Long-running WordPress and CMS partnership
Front-end and CMS development for a healthcare-tech company building clinical-automation tools.
The client is a healthcare-tech company building clinical-automation platforms. I was fortunate to be entrusted with a direct client relationship after agency handover, and I kept the project running direct with the in-house team. Over the years it grew into the kind of partnership where the client could hand me a request and not worry about it again until deployment.
What landed over the years:
As a significant presence in the healthcare industry, the client's marketing site required not only solid functionality but presentation of data that was clear and informative. I was able to build data management tools that allowed the team to manage documents, videos and news articles individually.
After so long working for the client, I knew the codebase, the hosting setup, the editorial people, the brand voice and the public-messaging guidelines that come with healthcare-tech.
New requests were dealt with efficiently, meetings arranged to go over any details as required, and features deployed smoothly.
My relationship with the client began with a clean, efficient build and grew into something more. As a trusted partner in their website development, knowing that I'm on hand to deal with any request takes a significant load off the shoulders of managers and editors.
The editor-system rebuild paid back its cost inside the first year by making content team requests cheaper to handle.
The UK/US split was the kind of detail that would have taken a fresh team much longer; we landed it in a sprint because the codebase was already understood.
I pride myself on being able to work asynchronously, without significant oversight. And yet also being able to carry myself in meetings, put my points across and respond with meaningful feedback to client requests. The client proved themselves to be an excellent client. I worked with several people there over the course of my time with them and every one helped me build my understanding of the company, its requirements and how best to serve the website.
The client has since been acquired. This partnership ran through the years leading up to that, and stands as a representative example of what a multi-year WordPress engagement looks like when it is built for stability rather than billable hours.
