Board Game Inserts & Organization
Custom solutions for a perfectly organized game night
Pondering board games again this morning.
Pondering board game inserts. Custom box layouts to optimize card and component storage. I fear I’m getting in too deep!
I’m fascinated by tabletop game design though, down to thinking about even how easy it is to store, align, and organize box content. So much work goes into these things. You have to consider the amount of time it takes to set up a game and tidy up afterward.
A cool game mechanic may work on paper, but what if it then means spending twice as long organizing parts? And then there’s the production, printing, and manufacturing pipeline to consider.
There's an interesting parallel with software development:
- Can't push updates; it's a one-shot release!
- Accessibility is just as important. Consider, for example, how large your board is or the size of the text.
- You can't just download it! There's a need to respect print runs and availability.
- And they're fantastic for getting kids (and adults!) away from screens and devices. Everyone gathers around the same table, laughing and chatting. These games encourage interaction, often far more positively than shouting at an anonymous stranger on the other side of the planet.
